Public Access Defibrillators

Photo of a Defibrillators

Wilberfoss benefits from having three public access defibrillators. The first is located on the side wall of the Community Centre on Main Street, YO41 5NN, the second on the front facing wall at the Pavilion, off Storking Lane, YO41 5AB and the third is fixed to the outside wall of St John the Baptist Church, Beckside, YO41 4NS. We are also lucky that one of our residents is a Community First Responder.

For ease of access for emergency vehicles, please be mindful of where and how you park in the village.

Notice Board

Notice Boards

A notice board, on Main Street, was installed in 2018 from funds raised through the East Riding of Yorkshire Council Recycle Credit Scheme and generous donations from the Walker family and the Wilberfoss Jubilee Project. The left-hand side displays parish information.  The right-hand side is open access for use by the community.  A second notice board was erected on Willow Park Road in 2019 using funds from the Tesco Bags of Help scheme and displays parish information.

A Celebration Bench

A bench to celebrate the Gold Award won by Wilberfoss in Bloom in 2014 was designed and hand-crafted by a resident and installed by students from York College.

Wilberfoss Parish Council

Parish Council meetings take place on the third Thursday of every month (unless holiday commitments or sickness force a change), commencing 7:30pm in the Community Centre on Main Street.

A fifteen minute window is offered to members of the public prior to the meeting to address the Parish Council with issues of concern or to refer to items on the agenda.  By law, the Parish Council Meeting, although held in public, is not a public meeting. Recycle to help our community

Picture of a Clothes Bank

A Textile Bank is located behind Wilberfoss Community Centre and recycled items raise funds for Wilberfoss community projects.  As a community we are recycling half a tonne of textiles a quarter!  Clothes, shoes, hats, coats, bags and belts can all be dropped off for collection and nothing collected  will be diverted to landfill sites.

Wilberfoss Community Orchard

Planted in October 2020, Wilberfoss has a small community orchard in the front garden of the Community Centre on Main Street.  Residents are encouraged to help themselves once the trees have become established.  Why not take a book from the Book Exchange,  a piece of fruit from the orchard and sit awhile in the porch at the Community Centre?

Wilberfoss Community Centre

Located on Main Street, Wilberfoss Community Centre is a modern, purpose-built, Lottery funded facility which plays host to many voluntary group activities and offers an opportunity for our semi-commercial users to earn a living.  Improvements were made in 2020 with funding from Sport England, the FCC Communities Foundation and Humber & East Riding Charitable Trust and the Centre now boasts automatic entrance doors, a fully dimmable lighting system and acoustic properties throughout.  It offers 3 rooms in the main hall, which can be joined to create larger spaces.  These rooms can be hired out by some users for as little as £11 per room per hour.  In addition to this there are two small refurbished offices which can be used for business use or as a study zone.  These can be hired on a half day (4 hours) or full day (8 hours) basis from as little as £20.  As well as being  home to nearly 30 regular user groups the Centre can be hired for private functions. FREE Wifi is available on site.   For more photographs and full details of what Wilberfoss Community Centre can offer you, follow the link to our listing on HallsHire.com.  The building is wheelchair friendly and offers baby changing facilities.  The Community Centre is available 7 days a week.

The Management Committee who oversees the running of the Community Centre would be interested to hear from you if you would like to join their committee.  Contact the Chairman, Chris Clegg, for more details.

Playing Fields and Sports Pavilion

As a vital element of building grassroots sports, Wilberfoss playing fields have been protected by the 2012 Queen Elizabeth II Fields in Trust Challenge.    This means that the site is protected from development and will always provide a space for recreation in the village.

The Pavilion is a community facility where everyone is welcome.
